The state has drawn up a detailed evacuation plan and the administration has shifted 7,500 people to safe places amid the possibility of severe cyclone 'Biparjoy' hitting Gujarat on June 15. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Monday that winds of up to 150 kmph are likely to hit Gujarat during the storm.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that rescue teams are ensuring the safe evacuation of people living in dangerous places in the path of Cyclone 'Beparjoy'. The Prime Minister chaired a high-level meeting in New Delhi, which reviewed the preparedness of the Central and Gujarat governments to deal with the situation arising out of the cyclone. This storm is also likely to affect Pakistan.

The IMD said that very severe cyclonic storm Biparjoy is likely to make landfall near Jakhau port in some districts of Gujarat on Thursday. People living near the coast in the coastal districts of Kuch, Porbandar, Devbhumi Dwarka, Jamnagar, Junagadh, and Morbi are being evacuated to safer places, officials said. Along with this, fishermen have been advised not to go into the sea for fishing, and warning signs have been put up at the ports.
