Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in Pakistan, has sent a strong warning to India about the ceasefire violation on the Line of Control (LoC).
In a blunt message to New Delhi, he stated that Pakistan would respond with “brutal” retaliation if India violates the ceasefire, just days after both countries reaffirmed their commitment to the 2021 LoC ceasefire agreement.
He added, “Anyone who attempts to cross our territory, integrity, and sovereignty, our reaction will be savage.”
His statement came only four days after Pakistan and India confirmed their commitment to the ceasefire pact. Tensions have increased due to recent aggressive statements from Indian politicians.
Lt. Gen. Chaudhry also warned that any escalation could be catastrophic:
“If India believes that it can create a niche for war between India and Pakistan, then it is a recipe for the destruction of both countries.”
He mentioned that international powers, especially the United States, understand the risks of such behavior in South Asia. He said, “Any rational player like the USA knows this nonsense and what the Indians are attempting here.”
The warning came after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a speech rejecting the idea of nuclear restraint and announcing a “new normal” in India's military approach to cross-border threats. Modi stated, “We will no longer make a distinction between terrorists and the government that nurtures them.”
Pakistan’s Foreign Office condemned Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s recent nuclear comments, calling them “irresponsible” and destabilizing for regional peace.
The exchange of harsh words marks a sharp increase in tensions between the two nuclear-armed nations, despite their official reaffirmation of the ceasefire agreement.
