The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has issued an eight-point travel advisory to help manage the expected surge in traffic on motorways and national highways during the Eid holidays.
Motorway Police 8-Point Advisory
- Vehicle Check: Before your journey, inspect the engine oil, coolant, tire pressure, brakes, and headlights.
- Seat Belts & Helmets: Ensure all passengers wear seat belts. Motorcyclists must wear helmets.
- Speed Limits: Follow posted speed limits and avoid overspeeding, especially during heavy traffic hours.
- Safe Distance: Keep a safe distance from the vehicle ahead to allow room for emergency stops.
- Lane Discipline: Stay in your lane and obey road markings and traffic signals.
- Rest Breaks: Take a break every two hours on long trips. Avoid driving while drowsy.
- Emergency Preparedness: Carry emergency contact numbers, a first-aid kit, and extra fuel. For assistance, dial 130.
- Report Violations: Report overloading, overcharging, or reckless driving by calling 130.
The NHMP has deployed additional personnel and increased patrolling on key routes to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow during Eid.
Road safety briefings are being conducted at toll plazas, and live traffic updates are available on FM Radio 88.6 to help travelers avoid congested areas.
A special public awareness campaign is being run on social media and electronic billboards, urging all drivers to follow safety rules and drive responsibly for a safe Eid journey.
