Angry Mob Sets Dumper Trucks Ablaze in Karachi

A fatal road accident on Rashid Minhas Road escalated into violent protests early Sunday morning when enraged locals set fire to multiple dumper trucks following the deaths of two siblings.

The Tragic Collision

The incident occurred late Saturday night in Federal B Area when a speeding dumper truck collided with a motorcycle carrying a father and his two children. The impact was severe, leaving all three family members seriously injured.

The victims were identified as:

  • Mahnoor, 22-year-old daughter
  • Ahmed Raza, 14-year-old son

Both siblings succumbed to their injuries en route to the hospital. Their father survived but remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Violent Outbreak

According to police reports, the dumper driver attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by locals who assaulted him before turning him over to authorities.

The deaths sparked immediate outrage among residents. Dozens of protesters blocked the road and set at least seven dumper trucks on fire, creating massive plumes of smoke that forced traffic diversions from the Sohrab Goth flyover to Shahrah-e-Pakistan.

Emergency Response

Law enforcement and rescue teams responded quickly to the scene:

  • Firefighters battled the blazing trucks for several hours
  • Police conducted clearing operations to restore traffic flow
  • Damaged vehicles were towed from the accident site

Authorities have launched a full investigation into both the initial accident and subsequent violent protest.
