Motorists crossing the Vasco da Gama Bridge in Lisbon, Portugal on Thursday afternoon (March 28) witnessed an unusual weather phenomenon that local media reported was possibly a tornado or water spot.
Dramatic images show a swirling column of fog and spray over the bridge, Europe's second-longest structure.
Waterspouts are similar to tornadoes, but they are formed by masses of water.
Tornadoes are not common in Europe, but they do occasionally occur in the northwest and south of the continent.
