PTI Faces Internal Dispute Over Participation in Islamabad Protest
Islamabad – Tensions within Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) over the party’s planned protest in Islamabad have come to light, with a public disagreement between Bushra Bibi and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. The dispute, which occurred earlier today, underscores growing divisions within the party ahead of the highly anticipated demonstration.
Sources report that the conflict began when Bushra Bibi, the wife of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, expressed her intention to lead the protest from Peshawar. This proposal was met with opposition from Gandapur, who reportedly told Bushra Bibi that she had no role in the political aspects of the party, citing her lack of involvement in active politics.
Following the heated exchange, Bushra Bibi remained in her vehicle, while Gandapur departed for his residence, marking a visible sign of discord between the two senior party figures.
PTI’s Leadership Strategy Amidst Protest Plans
In a separate development, PTI's senior leadership convened for an emergency meeting late last night to discuss the protest’s logistics and potential challenges. According to insiders, the leadership reiterated that the protest will proceed as planned, despite the mounting obstacles in the capital. The meeting also focused on a contingency plan (Plan B) in case unforeseen hurdles arise.
PTI leaders stressed that the party will continue its protest until its demands are met, and any roadblocks along the way will trigger localized protests. The meeting further proposed that the march towards Islamabad would commence as soon as access to the capital is cleared.
Disruption of National Transport Networks
As part of their ongoing preparations, PTI leaders confirmed that transportation networks across Pakistan, including the motorway system, have been disrupted due to roadblocks and protests. However, they emphasized that once Islamabad is accessible, the party will proceed with its march towards the city.
The internal rift within PTI, combined with logistical challenges, has raised questions about the party’s unity and its ability to mobilize support for the protest. As the situation develops, the party’s leadership faces growing pressure to manage both internal disagreements and external obstacles to ensure the success of their planned demonstration in Islamabad.
