Tensions between India and Pakistan have sharply increased after deadly Indian air and drone strikes killed at least 31 Pakistani civilians. Many others were injured, including 16 martyred in Muridke and Bahawalpur alone.
Missile Attack in Muridke
Four Indian missiles hit Jamia Masjid Ummul Qura and a nearby house in Muridke, about 40 kilometers from Lahore. The strike killed three civilians:
- Abdul Malik (from Jhang)
- Mohammad Alam (from Samundri)
- Midasar (from Chunian)
Two more people were injured and taken to local hospitals. Officials said the area had been partially evacuated earlier after warnings, which may have prevented more deaths. The mosque was completely destroyed. Later, local authorities arranged media visits to the damaged site.
Mass Casualties in Bahawalpur
In Bahawalpur, a missile strike hit Subhan Mosque in the Chowk Azam area between the night of May 6 and 7. A total of 13 people were martyred, including:
