The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has started a strict campaign against people and groups who are illegally charging parking fees in the city.
This action was taken after the Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab ordered that 32 official parking areas in Karachi are now free for public use.
Following many complaints from the public, the City Warden Department carried out surprise inspections at places like Chase Up, Aladdin Park, and Gulshan-e-Iqbal. Several people were caught collecting parking fees without permission. They were arrested and handed over to the police for legal action.

Mayor Wahab said that giving citizens free and trouble-free parking is a top goal. He warned that anyone found using public spaces to make illegal profits will be punished.
“We are here to serve Karachi. No one will be allowed to exploit public areas,” he said.
