Pakistan Celebrates 78th Independence Day

Pakistan Celebrates 78th Independence Day

The day began with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital. 21-gun salutes were fired in all the provincial capitals. Special prayers were offered in mosques across the country for peace, unity, and prosperity.

Pakistan is celebrating its 78th Independence Day with great enthusiasm. The celebrations are full of pride because of the recent Marka-e-Haq victory.

Buildings, streets, and markets are being decorated with national flags, buntings, and lights. Vendors are selling flags, caps, and green-and-white clothing. Vehicles and rooftops are proudly displaying the national emblem.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif led the flag-hoisting ceremonies. A major highlight of the day is the grand defence exhibition at Shakarparian Parade Ground, which showcases the capabilities of the Pakistan Army, Navy, and Air Force. Tanks, artillery, rocket launchers, radars, armoured carriers, and aircraft that played a role in Marka-e-Haq are on display. Visitors also enjoy a Pakistan Air Force flypast, para-jumping demonstrations, cultural programmes, and military band performances.

Cultural events are being organized across Islamabad by the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) and local cultural organisations. Traditional dance troupes representing all provinces perform at public venues. Art exhibitions, musical events, and children’s competitions add to the festive spirit.

The Lok Virsa Museum hosts Islamabad’s largest Independence Day festival. The programme includes music, cultural performances, food stalls, artisan workshops, Marka-e-Haq tribute exhibitions, and lantern countdowns. Activities such as a Mili Naghma competition, Azadi Concert, brass bands, and folk dance performances are part of the event. Entry is free for all visitors.

Across the country, Independence Day is being marked with flag-hoisting ceremonies, parades, cultural shows, and prayers.
